WHAT IS SELECTIVE DORSAL RHIZOTOMY ?

Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) surgery is a procedure that treats muscle spasticity caused by abnormal communication among the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. It corrects muscle spasticity by cutting the nerve rootlets in the spinal cord that are sending abnormal signals to the muscles.

SDR surgery is a treatment for cerebral palsy—typically performed on children who are affected by spasticity.

 

SDR surgery might help your child to:

  • Reduce spasticity.

  • Improve walking patterns.

  • Use energy and oxygen more efficiently.

  • Improve range of motion and functional mobility.

  • More easily perform self-care activities, such as getting dressed and grooming.

TRAINING COSTS

I have two types of training packages available:-

Weekly Sessions

1 x 60 minute session per week for 4 weeks = £200 (4 hour sessions equal to £50 per session)

2 x 60 minute sessions per week for 4 weeks = £320 (8 hour sessions equal to £40 per session)

3 x 60 minute session per week for 4 weeks = £420 (12 hour sessions equal to £35 per session)

Intensive Day Courses

2 Day Course - 2 consecutive days at 3.5 hours each (7 hours total) . Mornings and Afternoons available = £350 (Equal to £50 per hour)

3 Day Course - 3 consecutive days at 3.5 hours each (10.5 hours total) . Mornings and Afternoons available = £420 (Equal to £40 per hour)

4 Day Course - 2 consecutive days, 1 day rest, 2 consecutive days at 3.5 hours each (14 hours total) . Mornings and Afternoons available = £490 (Equal to £35 per hour)
